Our client dreamed of updating their kitchen, but had heard horror stories of renovations and exploding the budget. After receiving a few quotes from contractors, they were frustrated by their kitchen dreams not being seen or heard. This led them to reach out to NKDG after a family member shared some great work Nikki had done in the past in their area.
More Storage
Storage is paramount in kitchen design and our client needed more of it without taking away from the beauty of a newly renovated kitchen.
More Seating With a View
With frequent visits from children and grandchildren, our client’s current seating arrangements for dining was not working. The location of seating was perfect, but a new layout and larger window for backyard views were part of the vision for entertainment purposes.
BEFORE
THE SOLUTION
To optimize storage, we created a floor-to-ceiling cabinetry pantry with pull out drawers to capture wasted pantry space and give them better access to their goods. Moving the pantry allowed us to move the wall back two feet and make room for an island bigger than they could ever imagine – 3x the size to be exact.
In the dining area we enlarged one of the windows facing the backyard to bring in the sunlight and give them a great view of their backyard and pool. We also added banquette seating to their breakfast nook to create a beautiful sunny spot for morning coffee or a quick meal.
We used blue and green to create a bright and sunny feel the minute you walk into the kitchen and made sure all fabrics were performance style to match their lifestyle of being grandparents to 4 young children.
