Transforming Your Small Bathroom
Small bathrooms can be difficult to work with, but big bathrooms are a luxury for those with small apartments and homes. The first thing you should try to do is maximize the available space to make it feel a little roomier. even a compact bathroom can be fabulous without making it look congested. Check out these space-saving ideas that you can implement without hurting your budget.
Keep it open and airy by having a big window to let natural light and breeze in. If there is no window, using a mirror can make a room seem lighter without tearing down walls. You may also use dark floor tiles and then make the wall tiles lighter.
Keep most features off the floor or leave visible gaps. This includes storage, vanity, basins, and the bathtub (a freestanding one). A through sink with exposed pipes frees up additional floor space as well. A floating storage (which is mounted on the wall) can also make room for steps that your kids can use.
Proportion doesn’t have to be observed at all times. For instance, a smaller mirror above the vanity can be used. This gives you available space on both sides where you can install vanity lights. On the other hand, you may hang a wall-to-wall mirror that’s wider than your vanity to make an illusion of wider space inside the bathroom.
Insert cabinets into the wall to add more space. A simple medicine cabinet can create a place to store things while providing wall decor.
Since small bathrooms have tight spaces, using a round vanity is a good way to prevent sharp corners from getting in your way.
Save more space by mounting the towel holder on the back of the door if it is reachable from the shower area so you can still dry off with just a short arm stretch.
Just because you have a small bathroom it doesn’t mean you can’t maximize the space and make it look a lot bigger. With these tips, you can start your project for any compact space to make it stylish and practical at the same time.
