How to Make Your Apartment Feel Bigger

If you’re living in a bustling downtown location or some crowded city, it’s most likely that you’re living in a tiny apartment. The downfall to your great location is having to fit everything inside. This also makes it tough to add personality and design into your small space since you might have to use it for something else.

Too often, apartment owners are confronted with the issue of making their tiny space look bigger. If you want to get more out of your small space without feeling cramped, these design ideas will help you maximize your area.

Ditch your large round table and huge chairs that make your dining area look constricted. Instead, use a small round table matched with folding chairs in your dining room to free up space.

Make it a habit to de-clutter. Let go of some items that you don’t need but have accumulated over the years by throwing them away or donating them to those in need. De-cluttering also improves your mental health and will make home organizing easy to maintain.

Add a bookshelf to the wall instead of on the floor.. This will save you enough space to add extra seating or furniture..

Add a slim bench in the living room. This will accommodate additional guests and can also be used as an extra table. It’s time to let go of that bulky couch.

If you’re adding a partition, use a glass panel instead. This will allow enough light to flow in without hindering the view of the separated area.

Use a fold-out desk or foldable table for your kid’s study corner. You can easily tuck it away when not needed.

Replace your bed with a retractable mattress. The hidden piece can transform your space from bedroom to workroom in an instant.

Make your wall color bright. Dark wall paint makes a room feel smaller because it absorbs light. Light paint colors such as blue mist and snowcap can do the job perfectly.

Let natural light come in. This will connect your home with the outdoors. If you’re limited to a tiny window, use light fixtures to brighten up spaces.

Limit your decor to a large painting instead of small framed art pieces or photographs. This will create a focal point on the wall to draw the eye easily and not make your wall look cluttered..

Use mirrors to create depth. This will make the room larger by creating an optical illusion of extra space.

Remember, every single inch counts when you live in a tiny apartment or home. Finding the right balance between creating space and decorating your home is possible with limited space, you just have to be intentional.
