Breathtaking Living Room Design Ideas

It used to be that the living room was a part of the house that busy homeowners would likely retire to in the evening. Nowadays, we are spending more time in our living rooms, and perhaps making it the center of our daily routines as more people have shifted towards work-from-home arrangements.

The living room has now become an office space, classroom, entertainment area, and more which means it needs a refresh to catch up to all the needs of the space. Now’s the time to start adding creative redesign projects to the heart of the home.

Before you start, make sure to clean out the clutter and donate things that won’t match your redesign project. Clearing the clutter will help achieve a relaxed space and gives you more room to add necessary items for your redesign.

For other items, you may choose to upcycle them, especially those that have sentimental value. It’s always necessary to curate things that bring nostalgia and calms you down as you spend more time in the room.

Here are some living room design tips to help you out.

Bring in the greenery. Garden-chic and nature-inspired themes also dominate this year’s living room décors. Add indoor plants and wood in the corners to make the space more connected with the outdoors.

And don’t forget to place candles that can bring the scent of your favorite season inside. These must-haves transform your interior environment by infusing the air with scents that will help you reminisce about springtime or set the mood for a cozy date.

Add a reclaimed wood furniture piece. Display your seasonal decor on a reclaimed wood buffet or sideboard or console table to create an edgy, rustic statement piece.

Vary the size of your throw pillows. Most living rooms only display standard-sized pillows (12-18 inches). Instead, vary the size of your throw pillows and group them in 3’s (small, medium and large), while keeping in mind color and texture.

Match the accent chairs with the pillows. To achieve a harmonious look without alienating your furniture, try to match the color of your accent chairs with the throw pillows. This will tie things together and provide balance and warmth.

Use corner seating. The corner space is often the most underutilized portion of the living room. Add a chaise lounge or corner seating to provide you with more space in the middle.

Stash the TV away. It used to be that the television was the centerpiece in any living room. However, with more time for family bonding, consider hiding your flat screen in a cabinet that you can easily open when you want to binge-watch on Netflix.

Set the mood with slim lamps. Secondary lighting in the form of tall and lean lamps can add drama to dark corners.

Now that you know these tips, don’t be afraid to experiment or try out new ideas. The important thing is to create a unique yet practical living room haven that reflects personal taste and comfort. When you identify the purpose of this part of your home, it’ll be easier to incorporate these recommendations.
